Client:
A growth-stage consumer technology company serving an affluent customer base, five years into its growth and following its second round of funding.
Challenge:
The company’s first marketing hire had been strong in content but lacked full-funnel marketing experience — performance marketing, growth strategy, and go-to-market leadership. As the business matured, the founders needed to upgrade the function with a Head of Marketing who could own brand, content, and performance together and build toward larger P&L responsibility. With no internal talent or HR team, Venture-6 worked directly with the founders. The search required someone who had both proven marketing growth at an early-stage, resource-lean company — comfortable operating hands-on, wearing multiple hats, and working directly with a CEO/founder in a fully remote, self-directed culture — while also being ready to build more scalable process and structure as the company grew.
Our Approach:
Venture-6 focused on candidates from similarly lean, founder-led startup environments who had already demonstrated they could take a marketing function from early-stage to a more structured, full-funnel operation — evaluating not just channel expertise, but evidence of driving measurable growth with limited resources and direct founder collaboration.
Outcome:
Venture-6 completed the search in 10 weeks, expanding the scope to adjacent consumer product categories and prioritizing candidates within commuting distance of the founder for regular in-person collaboration — a key factor given the closely-held, founder-led nature of the role. The placed candidate came from a Series A consumer startup with a demonstrated track record of driving revenue growth through marketing, having also worked in an earlier-stage environment before scaling into a more established Series A organization — bringing both the hands-on adaptability and the growth discipline the role required.
